Hello Everyone!
I hope I haven't lost all of my steady followers because of my recent hiatus. For those of you that stuck around, I THANK YOU! It is such a frustrating thing to hit a creative slump. I just hadn't been able to get back into the swing of things, and then when the drive hit me, it was just in time for school to start again. And unfortunately, creativity has to take a back seat to the whole career thing. Talk about mixed up priorities!! ;-)
Anyway, I recently attended my favorite scrapbooking event...the annual Girls Just Wanna Scrap. It's beautiful there! As you can see in the picture, the colors were just beginning to change and the sky was a beautiful deep blue. Mom and I had a great time.
While I was there, I worked for a while on my sample "Workshop on the Go" pages, and finally got to use some of the wonderful new papers from our fall line. Contact me if you'd like to learn more about the "Workshops on the Go".
Here is my weekly planner. CTMH carries the weekly planner books and I chose to do my cover in Perfect Day Level 2 paper and My Stickease. I'm just awaiting the arrival of my 9x9 page protectors so that I can carry my planner around without being afraid of ruining the beautiful paper cover. I also used my Stamp of the Month for the decorations, and the new Classmate Alphabet My Acrylix set to make my name. I just love this paper!
Here is the inside of the planner. These are great planners because they come prebound and undated, so you can start your planner any week...no need to wait for the start of a new year! One side of the page is laid out for weekly notes, and the other side is blank so you can makes notes, draw layouts and sketches, or scrap with photos and mementos. What a great idea!
This next layout is one side of the Evensong WOTG layout. I ran out of the paper I needed to do the second page, because I had already used it for something else. I have a new pack coming later this week, so I can finish it then. I did a little tweaking to the layout, as you all know I like to do. For some reason, I just can't do a layout as planned. I always have to do a little something of my own. For this one, I changed the ribbon from Cranberry grosgrain New England Ivy organdy ribbon. Also, I didn't like how the stamped images looked, so I embossed over them with clear embossing powder. It just made the color a little more intense and rich, and added a little texture to the page. This is one of my favorite pictures and Evensong woks perfectly with it. Scooter is looking at me through the branches of the Christmas tree. He just loved the tree and investigated every ince of it that he could. That's a whole other layout that is coming up as soon as I get the next pack of paper.
Here is the layout I did using the paper I didn't realize I would need for the Evensong WOTG. I had taken this picture of my Christmas tree several years ago. I loved how it looked in front of the picture of my great grandparents' portrait, and how th lighting was so soft and "antique". I also had taken two wonderful pictures of my peaceful kitties near the tree.
While I was at the crop, I did a "Make & Take" with another CTMH consultant. She had me make the title bar which says "Super" with the star. I loved how the colors went together. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same stamps she used to make the title bar, so I improvised by using "Star Struck" by CTMH. I think it turned out just fine. I make a little more random stamped paper using the same colors and then found all the nutty pictures of Scooter I could find. He seems to get into the funniest places sometimes. I like how this layout turned out. The colors are Twilight, Chocolate, Buttercup, and Sweet Leaf.
Last 4th of July, I had the hardest time getting anyone outside in the beautiful day! I know! Anyway, leave it to little boys...my two cousins went outside with me and played on the tire swing in the yard. I was just amazed how in the digital, video game and computer age, a simple tire swing today, can still entertain two active little boys. They both love posing for pictures, especially because with my digital camera, they can see the pictures right away! Not having any kids of my own, I'm often at a loss as to how to use some of my papers. These pictures were just perfect for CTMH's "Game On" paper. I used a little non-CTMH stuff, but most if it is CTMH. I did a lot of embossing, and used velvet and leather embellishments to bring out the textures.
I found this paper while at the crop and the bright green immediately made me think of Smudgie's eyes! He has such pretty eyes for a kitty! The green paper brought it out even more. I knew I had this picture of him and Scooter together on the foot-stool. It almost looks like a posed picture. They look so poised and refined...NOT the way they are normally...biting each other, hissing, snarling, chasing, tumbling, and causing quite a stir. They really are like brothers. Best buds one minute, arch enemies the next. I used our new CTMH rub-ons here. These are just awesome! They go on so smoothly and easily. You can see the white scalloped at the top of the left hand page, and the "friends" at the bottom of the page. The buttons and ribbon are also CMTH.
And last, but not least...I got to use my new "Friendship Alphabet" stamp set. The only way to get this combination set, is by hostessing a CTMH party. Contact me to get yours today! I just love this new set. There is the E-sized set that is perfect for page titles, and the smaller set that works perfectly for labeling pictures, cards, and so much more. I used these stamps to finish my pages from my visit to the Detroit Eastern Market Flower Day.
Thanks so much for sticking with me...I hope to be back often!
